Our board-certified surgeons and licensed veterinary technicians work collaboratively to provide top-notch care to patients undergoing various surgical procedures, from TPLOs to facial reconstruction. Your Role: As a scrub nurse in our Surgery department, you will have one of the most interesting positions in the hospital, as you will be scrubbed in and sterile with the surgeon during all of our procedures. Our scrub nurses are responsible for assisting the surgeons during their procedures, which includes handling of instruments, cutting suture, holding limbs, suctioning, and anything else they may need from a sterile hand. On the opposite end, they are also responsible for the up-keep of the operating rooms. This includes a lot of restocking, cleaning, organizing and preparation of the operating rooms before and after the procedures.

- Veterinary Assistants at SouthPaws start at $22 per hour, dependent on experience.
- Four 10-hour shifts per week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 8am-6pm). There is the occasion that our scrub nurses will have to stay late for an emergency case, but our nurses are given a generous “on-call” bonus for each ER case!
