JOB SUMMARY
The essential role of the Welding Supervisor is to lead and manage welding functions and operations on the production floor. You will supervise a team of welders and other related production team members in their day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of welding techniques, and an understanding of production workflows and startups. The role is very much a hands-on role requiring strong interpersonal, mentorship and leadership skills, excellent problem-solving abilities and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, performance management and training to empower team members to perform at their best. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and accountability.
- Oversee welding production to ensure equipment is built in accordance with engineering specifications, maintaining our reputation for excellence in water and process solutions.
- Ensure that production schedules are adhered to and that any delays or issues are communicated to the Production and ECO Manager in a timely manner.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, industry regulations and quality control standards.
- Review blueprints and technical drawing to determine specifications for welding processes.
- Conduct training sessions to enhance the skills of new and existing team members.
- Collaborate with management to optimize workflows, reduce downtime and improve productivity.
- Champion a culture of safety by ensuring all safety protocols are followed and continuously seeking ways to improve workplace safety.
- Complete fit-up and take-offs of equipment being built in the production area.
- Implement and complete updated records and training for B31.1 and B31.3 code welding.
- Assist with quoting of stainless steel piping systems and frames.
- Adhere to and support all safety policies and guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5 years of experience in welding
- 2 years of supervisory/leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of SS pipe welding
- Strong knowledge of various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick, etc.) and welding equipment
- Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and technical drawings
- In-depth understanding of welding safety standards and OSHA regulations
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor others
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
- Ability to lift/carry 75 of lbs. and work in varying conditions in a production environment, some of which can be physically demanding
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certificate or degree in welding or related field
- 6 years of experience in welding
- 3 years of supervisory/leadership experience
- Experience with custom industrial equipment
