In consultation with the executive team, this new role will develop and pilot a new program, integrating direct services and community organizing to provide comprehensive and holistic support to immigrant families of survivors of trafficking and gender-based violence. The Family Care Coordinator will be instrumental to establishing a values-based and strategy forward approach to supporting families towards intergenerational healing and building survivor-led networks of care. The individual we are looking for is tenacious, creative and skilled at project management and team coordination, open to regular change and being nimble in response to feedback. Critical to this role is strategic visioning, as well as a willingness to try new things and learn from experiments.

 

Essential Job Duties

  • Lead a cross-department team of staff in preparation to launch a pilot program. This includes setting annual goals, timeline, measurable outcomes and criteria for participation.
  • Coordinate and facilitate regular meetings with the Family Care workgroup towards building up the Family Care team.
  • Outreach to similar programs to learn best practices, gather data and build supportive networks.
  • Gather resources and training materials for the team.
  • Complete relevant documentation and reporting of program activities including monthly reports and relevant grant reporting
  • Case coordination to support survivors and families towards intergenerational dialogue, relationship skill building, culture-based healing practices and supportive community networks
  • Provide direct, supportive, and ongoing coordination of API Chaya services to assist survivors of gender-based violence and trafficking and their families
  • Coordinate and facilitate wraparound team meetings, including development of the cross-program care plan for each family
  • Provides coverage/ backup to other team members as needed
  • Responsible for developing a family engagement program including monthly family events
  • Ensure regular data collection within the team
  •  Leads continued program development and assessment
  • Provide written and oral updates to staff and board
  • Complete relevant documentation and reporting of program activities including monthly reports and relevant grant reporting

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of full-time experience in domestic violence and/or sexual assault and/or human trafficking service provision
  • Experience in or deep connections with immigrant and refugee communities and an understanding of the dynamics of domestic and sexual abuse/violence and/or human trafficking within these communities
  •  Understanding and support of API Chaya's mission, vision and values and commitment to incorporate such values in day-to-day work
  • Knowledge of youth development, family dynamics, effective interpersonal and behavioral management skills, and helping systems
  • Understanding of child sexual abuse and its impacts on families
  •  Commitment to anti-oppression, including anti-racism and recognizing the intersections of gender-based and state-based violence
  • Nuanced critical thinking skills and understanding of how API Chaya's work relates to other movements for liberation and social justice and the ability to help others integrate such understanding into their work
  •  Excellent problem solver
  • Superb writing, speaking and communication skills, Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent team building, boundary setting and conflict management skills
  • Strong sense of teamwork, with ability to interact collaboratively, respectfully, and enthusiastically with a diverse set of program staff and partners
  • Able to manage both predictable workflow and emergent needs
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, projects, and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Capacity to work remotely and engage deeply over Zoom
  • Willing and able to work occasional evenings and weekends.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of community-based responses to harm
  • Values and practices of disability justice
  • Familiarity with local, regional and state laws, organizations, coalitions, policies and practices regarding
    domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking
  • Fluency in a South Asian, Asian, Pacific Islander language and/or Spanish.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work authorization in the US.
  • Washington State resident.
  • Ability to communicate detailed or important information to clients and/or co-workers through written documents and emails.

COMPENSATION
Based on experience, full-time (1.0 FTE) compensation for this position starts at $78,475 - $88,284 salary range. API Chaya offers generous benefits in part including robust medical, dental, vision coverage, retirement contributions, multiple weeks of leave, self care days, flexible holidays, a wellness stipend, and personal development funds for regular employees.
