This position is located in Edmond, Oklahoma.

The Production Supervisor reports to the Mint Production Manager and will be responsible for managing production personnel to maximize quality and output in a manufacturing operation. Accountable for achieving production targets by optimizing people, equipment, process, systems and documentation resources. The Production Supervisor helps establish the APMEX culture at the plant location and assists in identifying and developing the next generation of leaders. The Production Supervisor is responsible for executing production output to meet quality, productivity, and accuracy standards. The supervisor will oversee weighing, casting, buffing, burnishing, stamping/coining, packaging and outbound/inbound shipments.

A Day in the Life of a Production Supervisor:

  • Meet daily/weekly/monthly key performance indicators that as it relates to quality, accuracy, and productivity.
  • Adhere, develop, and improve processes for Mint production operations
  • Lead, plan, organize, direct and run optimum shift operation to meet production goals
  • Monitor execution against standardized processes, and perform coaching and/or process assessment to improve performance against standard(s)
  • Maintain and execute against 5S principles
  • Work on projects assigned by management
  • Ensure quality standards are being met throughout the entire production process and support no defects from leaving a station or team area
  • Trains staff in the areas of safety and quality
  • Lead and manage a team of 2-5 team members
  • Provides input to production flow and identifies potential manufacturing issues
  • Gather, organize and analyze data regarding key business drivers to present information in a manner that is meaningful to teammates by using metrics and analytics to guide organizational decision making
  • Thoroughly understand APMEX resource utilization to identify operational and performance improvement opportunities
  • Champion the "standardization" of work practices across shifts, functions and teams
  • Actively drives Good Manufacturing practices that meet company standards
  • Support of control plans to assure critical features are controlled through the production process
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems
  • Verify the readiness of the production line at start-up and supervise change overs
  • Monitors the production process, makes routine process checks and adjusts equipment or work practices according to standard operating procedures
  • Tracks production orders and schedules and will communicate to upper management daily
  • Manage overall package and product quality to ensure all standards and specifications
  • Flex work schedule to meet the business demands
  • Schedules or performs training for all employees
  • Maintains time and production records
  • Collaborate with front-line teammates daily to improve leadership and management behaviors while empowering front-line accountability of actions, roles and responsibilities
  • Trains, coaches and reviews performance of employees. Works with HR for employee discipline issues, terminations, and recruitment
  • Challenge teams to accelerate their growth and development
  • Interacts and collaborates with other departments to solve any restriction that may stop or slow down production, including material, personnel, equipment and process issues
  • Notifies management of reoccurring issues that may require equipment replacement. Able to perform minor troubleshooting process experiments and clearly communicate results.
  • Other duties as required.

Education:

  • High School degree or GED required; Bachelors degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment and thorough knowledge of high-volume production systems and processes preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in supervisory roles of people and processes. Preferred in a manufacturing environment to include demonstrated leadership capabilities.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong organization, planning, decision making abilities within a Lean Manufacturing working environment.
  • Understanding of production processes and controls.
  • Ability to lead, mentor, engage and impact a production team.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills required.
  • Ability to generate production status reports
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and propose solutions and courses of action
  • Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
  • Remain engaged, proactive, and positive in tough circumstances, owning assignments and taking full accountability for the teams success
  • Work efficiently and productively in independent and team settings
  • Communicate clearly using excellent written and verbal skills
  • Strong organization skills with meticulous attention to detail

Computer Skills:

  • Fluent with common MS office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
