Shift : M-F (8 : 00 5 : 00), 40 hours / week Shift may vary
DUTIES :
- The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for maintaining a highly professional environment, ensuring a collaborative relationship with patients and physicians.
- The MA will assist with the nonclinical tasks required to ensure smooth patient access and flow including scheduling patients which can include follow up office visits, imaging and lab work, preparation of appropriate chart elements.
- The responsibilities of this position would also include preauthorization process and acting as a liaison between the providers and patient.
- The Medical Assistant will work collaboratively with staff to ensure all proper records are received and all appropriate testing is completed prior to appointment / surgery date.
- The Medical Assistant will provide updates to the staff and patients on timing and status for all the above tasks that could have an impact on the patient’s health and / or testing and treatment options.
- Ensures even patient flow and continuous communication within Hoag and referring physician offices. May be required to start at a different location throughout the workweek or travel to multiple sites.
SKILLS :
Required Skills & Experience :
- Graduate of Medical Assistant Program
- One-year previous medical back-office experience, preferably within an acute healthcare system environment.
- Basic keyboarding skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
Preferred Skills & Experience :
- Minimum one (1) year previous medical back-office experience, preferably within an acute healthcare system environment.
- Working Knowledge of EPIC or other Electronic Medical Record system EMR’.
- Qualified bilingual or multilingual candidates.
EDUCATION :
Required Education : Graduate of Medical Assistant program.
One-year previous medical back-office experience, preferably within an acute healthcare system environment.
Medical Assistant Certification from an approved certifying body.
Preferred Education : Associate's or Bachelor's degree in healthcare-related field.
Required Certifications & Licensure : BLS from AHA
