Overview
Apogee has an exciting new opportunity for a N etwork Engineer to join the team. The technical expert filling this position will be a trusted advisor and consultant to the government that supports government-led on-going and future sustainment, modification, and capability upgrade efforts across the NCMC-ITW/AA and Legacy Space C2 systems. A key focus for this position is the planning, analysis, design, development, testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, and integration of networks supporting these systems. This position will also support broader systems engineering activities associated with these systems.
The NCMC-ITW/AA Branch sustains unique ITW/AA Cheyenne Mountain systems, networks, and associated components through an enterprise-wide set of integrated mission capabilities, support services, and data products that provide military authorities with an accurate, timely, unambiguous and continuous warning and attack assessment of air, missile and space threats. The Legacy Space C2 Branch sustains unique space command & control systems, networks, and associated components through an enterprise-wide set of integrated mission capabilities, support services, and data products that provide space situational awareness, object tracking, and deconfliction.
This is a full-time position at Peterson SFB in Colorado Springs, CO with hybrid flexibility for anyone local – subject to change per the government’s discretion.

Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen
Clearance: A minimum active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance
Education: High School Diploma
Years’ experience: 20 years of directly related experience with proper certifications, 8 of which must be in the DoD
Additional Experience:
Clearance: Active Top Secret
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Year's of Experience: 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 5 of which must be in the DoD; OR
Location: Onsite at Peterson SFB in Colorado Springs, CO
Hybrid: Telework capabilities for local candidates (percentage of telework allowed will vary based on the customer's discretion)
Travel: Travel may be required (approx. 10-20%)

Responsibilities
- Advise and ensure high-quality work that involves the planning, analysis, design, development, testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, integration, maintenance, and/or management of networked NCMC-ITW/AA and Legacy Space C2 systems across all levels of the mission environment (day to day through scintillation). Functions in this area may include:
- Analyzing and recommending network requirements
- Recommending and maintaining network architecture and infrastructure
- Analyzing network workload
- Monitoring network capacity and performance
- Diagnosing and resolving network problems, to include verifying hardware configurations
- Recommending network backup and recovery procedures
- Installing, testing, maintaining, and upgrading network operating systems software; and/or ensuring the rigorous application of information security/ cybersecurity policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of network services
- Provide system/program engineering, technical support, and technical training to support programs/initiatives, including but not limited to: acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, continued evolution, deployment/fielding and installation, and operations oversight
- Conduct reviews on program portfolio to evaluate and/or recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering programs/processes, manage/sustain program technical baseline, and design/perform system-level tests to assure that subsystems and system performance are achieved in accordance with approved specifications
- Perform validation of systems, including the development of criteria and procedures. Analyze and evaluate results of major engineering systems with a concentration on end to end communications
- Prepare technical documents that define, specify, and recommend system/subsystem characteristics. Prepare management reports and conduct technical presentations for planning, implementation and corrective action using the application of engineering economy principles
- Have experience with the Agile methodology for development and sustainment of software systems
- Represent government interests by performing Agile Product Owner roles and responsibilities
- Ability to interact professionally with DoD end users, DoD customer, and contractor support personnel; this includes the ability to prepare and present briefings to these personnel
- Perform program reviews to evaluate alternative proposed plans, systems engineering programs, design, and test results to assure that subsystem and system performance is achieved in accordance with program specifications
- Provide engineering support services and inputs to program and project risk management activities in compliance with AF SEAM processes
- Provide engineering support to conduct formal trade studies based on engineering performance, effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, cost performance, life cycle cost, producibility, reliability, maintainability, risk, and schedule
- Provide technical recommendation support services, including reviews, studies, audits, evaluations and analyses, scientific and procedural guidance, documentation, technical analysis, and support of associated engineering IPTs
- Provide proposal analysis support services that compare and quantify proposed systems, components, approaches for technical feasibility, compatibility, and cost-effectiveness
- Provide concepts and requirements analyses support services including, but not limited to, reviewing and analyzing DoD requirements, assessments, concept, strategy, and audit documentation.
- Review and analyze system concepts and user requirements that have been approved and entered into a system requirements baseline (functional, allocated, and product)
- Conduct reviews on program portfolio to evaluate and/or recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering programs/processes, manage/sustain program technical baseline, and design/perform system-level tests to assure that subsystems and system performance are achieved in accordance with approved specifications
- Review and analyze system concepts and user requirements that have been approved and entered into a system requirements baseline (functional, allocated, and product)
- Provide concepts and requirements analyses support services, but not limited to, reviewing and analyzing: Initial Capabilities Documents (ICDs), Capability Development Documents (CDDs), Capability Production Documents (CPDs), Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), Military Utility Assessments (MUAs), and Technology Development Strategies.

- Possess the ability to oversee and guide the efforts of junior and mid-level engineers
Clearance: Active Top Secret
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Year's of Experience: 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 5 of which must be in the DoD; OR
- Master's Degree 10 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 5 of which must be in the DoD
- Support implementation and execution of Agile software execution in concert with Government and Prime contractors
- Represent the Government’s interests by performing Agile Product Owner roles and responsibilities.
- Familiarity with Missile Warning, Missile Defense and / or Space Domain Awareness or Command and Control Systems
- Familiarity and/or experience with Cloud-based technologies
- Relevant industry certifications from Cisco, CompTIA, are preferred.
- Good understanding of networking protocols - switching technologies, routing fundamentals, firewalls, IP subnets, firewalling, load balancing, zones, and Management Networks.
- Working knowledge of network systems, protocols, and standards such as Ethernet, LAN, WAN, xDSL, TCP/IP, fiber, T1, 802.11x, etc.
- vSphere Certification: VCP-DCV
- NSX-T Certification: VCP-NV
- Cisco Certified Network Professional: CCNP
- Experience with DoD STIGs (as related to networking devices)
- Experience with Palo Alto Firewall configurations
- Have experience with ITIL framework and ITIL-based processes, to include continual service improvement, change management, and problem investigation.
