JOB TITLE: Machine Operator

DEPARTMENT: Production Department

REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor

SUMMARY

The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining machinery in the production environment. Their primary role is to ensure that machines function efficiently and produce high-quality products in accordance with company standards and safety regulations. Machine operators are crucial to maintaining workflow, minimizing downtime, and achieving production targets.

CLERICAL RESPONSIBILITY

Logging production data, including quantities produced, machine downtime, weight checks and maintenance activities. Maintaining logs of materials used and inventory levels. Labeling of batch or lot numbers associated with production product being produced including the produced date.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Verify data by comparing it to source documents.

· Sort and organize paperwork after entering data to ensure it is not lost.

· Working knowledge of office equipment and computer hardware and peripheral devices.

· Good command of English both oral and written and customer service skills.

· Great attention to detail - creating spreadsheets with large numbers of figures without mistakes.

· Transferring data from paper forts into computer files/ERP database systems inputting alphabetic and numeric information using computer keyboards according to screen format.

· Prepares source data for computer entry by compiling and sorting information, establishing entry priorities.

· Review data for deficiencies; resolving discrepancies by using standard procedures or returning incomplete documents to the production supervisor for resolution.

· Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.

· Contributes to team effort by assisting in accomplishing production schedules as needed.

· Create product labels for packaging and master cases.

· Reports personnel or product safety concerns to production supervisor.

· Follow GMP practices daily.

· Alert QA tech and the production supervisor of any deviation to food safety requirements.

· Ensure that all HACCP documentation is filled out completely and accurately.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

No prior experience or training required, but experience working with food is a plus in a food manufacturing environment.

Skills and Experience

· High school degree or equivalent

· Excellent knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel, ERP etc.).

· Must have 1-2 years working in a manufacturing production facility, working with food preferably.

· Ability to work in a face pace environment that may require standing for long periods of time.

· Self-motivated and demonstrated initiative.

· Must be available to work any/all shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime on occasion if business needs change.

· Support Production operations to maintain standards of quality.

· Ability to follow company policies and work instructions on the production floor.

LANGUAGE ABILITY

Ability to read work instructions in English and write legibly on production forms. Ability to verbally communicate with others to discuss and confirm written information.

Bilingual is a plus.

MATHEMATICAL ABILITY

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Able to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a data entry clerk to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the data entry clerk is regularly required to stand and walk. The data entry clerk is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The data entry clerk must be able to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and sit.

**Lifting Requirements: Routinely lifts under 10 pounds with occasional lifting of up to 40lbs

If the item to be lifted is over 40lbs, the data entry clerk must ask for assistance from a coworker to team lift the item.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

May involve standing for extended periods. Exposure to noise, dust, and machinery. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.

**Noise Level: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
