Job Title: Senior Data Scientist
Location: Hybrid - Candidates must be in the DC/MD/VA area
Contract: 6-month CTH / 6-month contract only
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to join our Enterprise Business Technology Office . The ideal candidate is passionate about data engineering, analytics, and automation, with expertise in building scalable data platforms. You will work closely with stakeholders to develop data-driven solutions that enhance business operations and decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop data storage and analytics solutions using data lake patterns.
- Build and maintain efficient data pipelines and ETL processes for large-scale data integration.
- Collaborate with analysts and engineers to define data needs and drive business insights.
- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes using Python, SQL, PySpark, and Apache Spark.
- Implement automated testing frameworks (Pytest) to ensure software quality.
- Mentor junior team members and provide technical leadership.
- Support advanced statistical and quantitative analysis for business operations.
- Develop APIs, troubleshoot issues, and ensure smooth production releases.
Required Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of experience in data engineering.
- Strong programming skills in Python (Nice to have: Scala, Java).
- Proficient in SQL, Spark SQL, PySpark, GraphQL, Gremlin.
- Experience with Apache Spark, DataFrames, Graph DBs, and Snowflake.
- Familiarity with AWS cloud services (EMR, EKS, Lambda).
- Expertise in SDLC, Git, Bitbucket, and RESTful APIs.
- Experience in statistical modeling and optimization using Python or R.
- Strong analytical skills to extract and manipulate large datasets.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Talend, Control-M, and API integration.
- Hands-on experience with testing frameworks and release management.
- Strong leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate complex data models in business-friendly terms.
