Job Description:
The Senior Database Engineer manages on-premise database administration for critical, 24/7 business applications, specializing in Oracle databases. They handle tasks like scripting and automating database operations, troubleshooting issues, conducting performance analysis, and ensuring database security. Additionally, they evaluate emerging database technologies, develop and test automation scripts, and support database tools for efficient administration.
Responsibilities:
- Offer comprehensive DBA support for all database administration tasks, including provisioning, backup/recovery, replication, deployment, and troubleshooting of Oracle databases in real-time production environments.
- Handle installation, configuration, monitoring, upgrades, and maintenance of databases in both production and non-production environments.
- Provide 24x7 on-call DBA support for production systems as part of a rotating schedule or on an as-needed basis.
- Assist with database deployment in both Test and Production environments.
- Identify and resolve database performance issues using performance monitoring tools and tuning methods.
- Collaborate with Systems Administrators on Linux/Unix/VM system-related issues impacting databases.
- Write automation scripts for provisioning, maintenance, and reporting tasks related to databases.
- Set up and maintain database high availability configurations.
- Manage data replication and sharding processes.
- Troubleshoot production database issues, including connectivity problems.
- Implement disaster recovery solutions for database systems.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
- Oracle at least version 19 - In-depth performance tuning, securing, and validation.
- Automation, Unix Scripting, databases administration. DB2 is preferred.
Basic Requirements:
- Over 10 years of experience in database administration.
- Extensive expertise in database performance tuning.
- In-depth knowledge of industry-leading best practices for managing large-scale database environments.
- Strong understanding of High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions, and storage technologies, including data replication.
- Proven experience in implementing, supporting, and auditing database security measures.
- Experience providing support for Oracle databases in on-premise environments.
- Proficient in using database monitoring tools for performance and health checks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Hands-on experience working in virtualized environments with VMware.
- Possess certifications from database and cloud vendors.
Salary : $140,000 - $150,000
