GRAMMY-winning chamber orchestra APOLLO'S FIRE seeks an Orchestra Production Associate to assist the Stage Managers in multiple facets of orchestra production in Apollo’s Fire rehearsals and concerts – primarily local, but also some touring. This work includes riser and stage set-up, as well as lighting, audio, and instrument transportation (mostly harpsichord and chamber organ, not piano).
Presently, this is a part-time position, with opportunity for growth of the position and/or advancement within the organization within the next 2 years.

About Us:
GRAMMY® award-winning ensemble Apollo’s Fire (AF), based in Cleveland, OH, is one of the world’s leading period-instrument baroque orchestras. Under the direction of Artistic Director Jeannette Sorrell, AF performs about 40 concerts per year at its home series in Northeast Ohio; about 4 concert programs on its satellite series in Chicago; and tours internationally at such venues as Carnegie Hall, the BBC Proms (London), the Royal Theatre of Madrid, the Tanglewood, Ravinia, and Aspen festivals, the Library of Congress, the Metropolitan Museum of Art (NYC), and more. AF’s extensive educational and outreach programs in Northeast Ohio include school workshops, FREE Family Concerts, and Baroque Bistro concerts in restaurants. Apollo’s Fire also runs a major string program in the public schools on Chicago’s south side. AF’s diversity initiative, known as the MOSAIC Project, is in its 4th year and has included specially-designed concert programs, commissioned works by Black composers, training for talented young musicians of color, and nurturing the careers of several up-and-coming artists of color.

Job Description:
The Orchestra Production Associate assists the Stage Managers in multiple facets of orchestra production in Apollo’s Fire rehearsals and concerts – primarily local, but also some touring. This work includes riser and stage set-up, as well as lighting, audio, and instrument transportation (mostly harpsichord and chamber organ, not piano).
Presently, this is a part-time position, with opportunity for growth of the position and/or advancement within the organization within the next 2 years.
Each concert-project runs approx. 8-13 days and may involve 40-70 hours per week. There are usually 7-9 projects per year.
Dates of upcoming projects for the remainder of this season are:
· Feb. 3-9 (local)
· Feb. 10-12 (Chicago)
· Feb. 24-March 3 (local)
· March 30-April 13 (mostly local, but ending in Chicago)
· April 15-May 4 (local)
· May 24-June 10 (mostly local, plus Chicago)
Compensation: Starting wage is $25/hr., paid at the conclusion of each project.
Qualifications:
- Previous stage management, stage lighting, and/or sound experience is strongly preferred.
- Some music background (choir, orchestra, or band experience) is an asset.
- Good physical health and the ability to carry up to 80 pounds comfortably.·
- A friendly demeanor and the desire to learn
- The ability to work flexible hours is a must.
- A car and valid driver's license are required for the position.
