Job Description
The Employee Relations and HR Compliance Specialist is a key role in promoting positive employee morale. This position is responsible for administering and executing the company’s overall employee relations strategy, including the implementation of company policies and procedures, performance and personnel management, leave of absence management, manager training and coaching, and HR compliance practices. The role reports directly to the Director of Human Resources and holds primary responsibility for managing employee relations and HR compliance processes.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Communicates and executes the company’s human resource policies, procedures, and programs.
- Provides general supervision for company-wide activities of personnel administration, management training and development, safety, employee communications, employee activities, staffing, and legal compliance.
- Provide guidance and training to managers on performance issues including coaching on performance improvement, documenting performance and behavioral problems, preparing performance improvement and development plans and termination documentation where required.
- Directs and maintains effective communications programs with all departments and employees to promote and sustain a high level of employee morale.
- Conduct investigations and make recommendations based on findings by providing problem resolution through policies and procedures interpretation.
- Development and implementation of formal performance management process and procedure
- Administers the company’s leave of absence program from leave initiation to return to work authorization, including all necessary communication and transactional updates.
- Administers and ensures compliance with ADA accommodations requests.
- Prepares, maintains and ensures proper and timely compliance with FMLA administration, EEOC reporting, HIPAA regulations, and other compliance needs.
- Participates in special projects or perform other duties as requested.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field strongly preferred
- At least 3 years of progressive Human Resources experience
- At least 2 years of experience with Employee Relations and/or HR Compliance practices preferred
- Ability to work on own initiative with good organizational skills in a multi-tasking environment
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills are critical
- Strong analytical skills – proven success in using data to drive decisions
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with proven ability to juggle and reprioritize based on business demands and priorities
- Critical understanding how HR contributes to overall business goals/strategies
- Customer-focused, sincere, and passionate
- Collaborative, disciplined, and focused
- Possess a high standard of integrity
