The Career – What You Will Do
Apothecary Products, LLC (APL) is seeking a talented National Account Manager to join our team in Burnsville, Minnesota! In this role, you'll be responsible for planning, leading and executing sales strategies and plans to profitably grow sales and enhance APL's business position within a variety of regional and national retailers and distributors, in the food, drug, mass and specialty channels within assigned territory. Additionally, the National Account Manager is a part of a cross functional team, that will actively support and participate in the development of APL’s total business strategies and plan development including but not limited to market penetration plan, product plan, pricing development, promotion plan development and management, regulatory compliance and operational support plans/strategies.
Essential Duties Responsibilities:
Develop new and existing retailer/distributor and/or broker relationships in assigned markets:
- Develop good direct working relationships with new and potential retail and wholesale customers.
- Lead market penetration initiatives, including gathering and sharing market intelligence.
- Elevate APL with brokers, distributors and retailers through quid pro quo negotiation, higher customer penetration, exhibited business know how and successfully lead customers businesses.
- Become a strategic expert advisor partner with key strategic brokers, distributors, and retailers.
- Optimize distribution network; direct and wholesale supplied.
- Drive customer execution and results that exceed Annual Operating Plan objectives.
- Accurately forecast volume top line and financial bottom line.
- Monitor the progress of the business and modify plans to maximize growth.
- Sufficiently train brokers, where used, on all APL products, categories and business metrics.
- Actively arrange and facilitate customer calls as needed to solidify and develop the business in all customers.
- Develop contingency plans and responses to changing market conditions.
- Manage and resolve unauthorized deductions and other issues of concern with customers and distributors within established guidelines.
- Manage account specific support programs.
Direct, manage and support brokers to achieve planned business objectives including:
- Lead brokers in annual planning process and review meetings that establish annual sales dollar, product mix and distribution objectives to deliver APL’s business goals.
- Manage broker performance, contracts, and commissions.
Sales Strategy, Planning & Management:
- As part of a cross-functional team actively assist in the development of annual strategy, business objectives and financial plans.
- Work closely with assigned sales and account support team members supporting sales efforts.
- Analyze and understand market trends, competition (product/ packaging/ pricing) that may impact total business efforts.
- Partner cross-functionally to develop and efficiently execute profitable new customer programs and product, pricing, or packaging launches.
- Participate in annual budgeting and quarterly re-forecast processes.
- Forecast market distribution and volume within appropriate lead times. Provide customer specific new item and replenishment forecast information to internal teams.
- Operate within approved budgets and guidelines.
- Understand regulatory dynamics.
- Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly and annual management presentations to communicate progress versus plans, in accordance with company process.
Qualifications Experience:
Education: High school diploma; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Work Experience: 4 years solid work experience in sales or related fields with increasing responsibility; Medical device or other regulated industry experience preferred.
