The purpose of the Appalachian Artisan Center (AAC) is to develop the economy of eastern Kentucky through our arts, culture, and heritage. We are dedicated to supporting artists by helping them create and grow successful businesses. The AAC aids artists in many ways including business plan development, training and continuing education opportunities, studio space, and a venue to sell and exhibit their work.
Pay: $50,000, depending upon experience.

Responsibilities, Required Work Experience, Skills, Education
The Fundraising and Development Director will be one of the two primary management positions for the Appalachian Artisan Center, reporting to the Executive Director and will be the person primarily responsible for all facets of fundraising for the Center. The Development Director will:
· Solicit individual and corporate contributions for Business sponsorships
· Solicit contributions for the AAC’s Benefactor’s Program, the program to pay off the AAC’s building indebtedness
· Seek contributions to build the AAC’s endowment
· Plan and execute the Annual Spring Celebration and the Autumn Jamboree fundraising events
· Plan and conduct the Fall telethon and the annual giving drive
· Promote and manage estate planning gifts
· All other fundraising efforts assigned and approved by the AAC’s Board of Directors.
The Fundraising and Development Director will work with the Executive Director and the AAC Grant Consultant to maximize grant contributions in support of ongoing programs and to develop future programs authorized by the Board.
The Fundraising and Development Director will establish the back-office support and development infrastructure, including appropriate software, for donor and fundraising tracking. As time allows, the Fundraising and Development Director will assist the Executive Director/Program Director in other areas including strategic planning. However, the primary focus of this job must be centered on fundraising aimed at accomplishing the Center’s stated goal of self-sustainability within five years.
Applicants must demonstrate a proven record of successful individual and/or corporate fundraising. The Development Director will be expected to pay for his/her position through successful increased fundraising and the incremental amount of money raised annually will be a critical part of the Director’s annual job evaluation. Experience with arts oriented economic development programs is preferred, but not required. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent fundraising experience necessary. Some travel required.
