Summary Description:
Based at the Appalachian Mountain Club’s (AMC) Highland Center Lodge in
Crawford Notch, Bretton Woods NH, the Dining Room Attendant is
responsible for welcoming our active guests to our dining areas and the smooth delivery
of meals for the general public, overnight guests and program participants at
this destination. Join a community of friendly, guest-oriented coworkers
who are motivated to extend top-quality hospitality in iconic Crawford Notch! Dining Room Attendants are an active member
of the kitchen team and contributes to the overall success of the Highland
Center’s operation.
While this position is primarily focused on keeping the dining room, buffets, and cafeteria ready for guests, dining room attendants also work alongside the Highland Center cooks in the kitchen, walk-in refrigerators, kitchen storehouses, recycling shed, crew room and loading dock area.
The position is paid hourly, receives gratuity, and has access to great seasonal employee benefits. The position requires weekend and holiday shifts. Onsite Staff dormitory-style housing, with all meals, is available at the Highland Center Lodge for full time, seasonal staff.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Assist and serve customers, whether they are sitting down
for family-style dinner service, or visiting our breakfast/lunch buffet areas.
• Greet our guests with a smile and a willingness to help
them enjoy their visit.
• Clean, sanitize and inspect all areas maintained by the
Kitchen Crew on a daily basis and as needed to exceed the New Hampshire Board
of Health standards.
• Daily - Snack Bar upkeep, prep work, and service during
lunch service.
• Responsible for operating a cash register during lunch
service.
• Provide beer and wine service to the guests at the Highland
Center.
• Support the on duty Cook with preparing the daily meals.
• Assist in preparation and set up of coffee breaks, special
event luncheons, pizza lunches for schools, and cash bar socials
• Lead or assist in the delivery of guided site tours,
“Dinner Talks”, and evening programs including greeting and orientation to
Highland Center opportunities and AMC facilities as required.
• Attend scheduled kitchen crew meetings and front-line
training sessions.
• Keep up-to-date on AMC programs and activities as well as
general kitchen information by reading the FYI board when necessary.
• Other duties as assigned by the Highland Center Management
staff
Qualifications and Experience:
• Kitchen experience preferred; willingness and interest to
learn required.
• Customer service experience recommended.
• Flexibility with regard to schedule is required.
• Knowledge of the White Mountain National Forest area is
desirable.
• Desire to be a team player.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds from floor to chest height
for extended periods of time.
• Stand, walk, sit, move freely and climb stairs unassisted
for extended periods of time.
• Ability to climb multiple levels of stairs repeatedly,
bending, twisting and reaching motions.
• Ability to safely use step ladders, cleaning equipment and
hand carts.
