Job Description:

This transitional leadership role is designed to bridge the gap between field technician and field supervisor responsibilities. The individual in this position will perform the duties of a Lead Field Service Technician under direct supervision and will step into the role of acting Field Supervisor when the assigned supervisor is traveling or supporting regional business needs.

This role is part of a leadership development pathway intended to prepare the candidate for promotion to Field Supervisor. It requires strong technical proficiency, emerging leadership capabilities, and a demonstrated commitment to operational excellence and team support.


Key Responsibilities:

Field Operations

  • Lead on-site technical work including installations, troubleshooting, and system commissioning across low-voltage disciplines such as door access control, security systems, AV, and structured cabling.
  • Ensure quality, safety, and project timelines are upheld on active job sites.
  • Maintain oversight of tools and materials, ensuring inventory control and readiness.

Leadership and Coordination

  • Serve as acting Field Supervisor during periods when the supervisor is away on business travel or supporting other regions.
  • Coordinate daily assignments, support scheduling needs, and assist in managing job site logistics.
  • Conduct safety briefings and ensure compliance with company and regulatory safety standards.
  • Provide mentorship to technicians and promote a positive team environment.

Professional Development

  • Participate in a structured 90-day development plan focused on leadership readiness.
  • Engage in regular coaching and evaluations as part of the Field Supervisor succession process.
  • Pursue relevant certifications and training as supported by the company's Training Costs Policy.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • Proven experience in a Lead Technician or comparable role within low-voltage or systems integration fields.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Capable of physical field work, including use of ladders and lifts, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Preferred:

  • Experience in technician supervision, job site management, or cross-functional coordination.
  • Familiarity with ConnectWise or similar service ticket/timekeeping systems.
  • OSHA 30 or other safety training certifications.


Licensing and Compliance Requirements:

This role requires active participation in obtaining a NC Alarm System License Registrant. As part of this process, the selected candidate will be subject to a criminal background check, FBI finger Printing, and drug testing to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This licensure is essential for any team member involved in the installation, maintenance, or remote access to Camera Systems, Alarm Systems, or Access Control Systems. Management of the licensure process will be overseen by our NC Alarm System License Licensee to ensure all legal and regulatory requirements are met.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Exceptional technical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with expertise in low voltage cabling and telecommunications systems.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, capable of leading by example and motivating team members.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple tasks simultaneously and adapting to changing priorities.
  • Experience with EIA, BICSI, NEC, or TIA standards, and proficient in the installation of copper and fiber optic cables.
  • Comprehensive understanding of NFPA 70 and NFPA 72 code requirements as they apply to the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Low voltage and fire alarm systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical safety standards and the ability to interpret complex technical documentation and schematics related to low-voltage cabling and security systems.
  • Knowledge of general building codes and local regulations that impact field service operations.
  • Experience bending and running conduit, using digital multi-meters, and with anaerobic terminations and splicing.
  • Ability to work in small spaces, at varying heights, and ability to lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs and occasionally heavier.
  • Must be able to safely work on ladders for extended periods and comply with safety standards, including adhering to the maximum weight capacity for ladders, including personal gear and tools.
  • Able to operate aerial boom lifts (3B) and scissor lifts (3A) safely and proficiently, in accordance with safety regulations and best practices.


Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced technical training or certification highly regarded.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a technical leadership role, with a proven track record of leading field service teams.

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday.
  • Additional hours as needed to meet project deadlines.
