Overview

The Drug Diversion Program Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the Drug Diversion Program, ensuring compliance with ARH policies and government regulations, implementing strategies to prevent and detect drug diversion, and directing opioid stewardship efforts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement policies and procedures related to drug diversion prevention and detection• Coordinate with pharmacy, nursing, risk management, and other departments to ensure adherence to policies and procedures related to drug diversion• Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify potential areas of vulnerability to drug diversion in all locations where controlled substances are stored or administered, including nursing units, inpatient pharmacies, retail pharmacies, and clinics• Collaborate with local pharmacy and nursing leadership to ensure appropriate notification of suspected and actual diversion activities to law enforcement agencies, licensure boards, and regulatory bodies• Provide education and training to staff on drug diversion awareness and prevention• Lead opioid stewardship efforts by providing education and training to prescribing providers regarding regulatory requirements as noted in, but not limited to, House Bill 1• Engage in Statewide Opioid Stewardship efforts• Monitor and analyze data related to drug usage patterns, discrepancies, incidents, and unreconciled transactions to identify trends and potential areas for improvement• Attend local diversion committee meetings. • Chairs System Diversion Committee. Shares information between local and system diversion committees.• Stays current on state and federal regulations related to controlled substances• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (LPN, RN, or BSN), or• Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, healthcare administration, or related field, or• High school diploma or GED equivalent

 

Minimum Work Experience• 3 years of healthcare experience, with specific experience in pharmacy, nursing, or regulatory compliance, preferred

 

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities• Strong understanding of controlled substance regulations, diversion prevention strategies, and healthcare compliance requirements• Excellent communication skills• Demonstrated leadership abilities• Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
