What are the responsibilities and job description for the Regional Volunteer Coordinator position at Appalachian Regional Healthcare?
Overview
The Regional Volunteer Coordinator will maintain the ARH Regional Medical Center volunteer program and also work with hospitals in the Eastern KY region. The Regional Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for managing all volunteer programs at the hospital, and also participate in coordination of community programs that benefit Appalachian Regional Healthcare
Responsibilities
1. Development and Implementation of effective volunteer management process
Recruit, orient, train, supervise and recognize efficient volunteers
Assist hospital department heads in determining optimum utilization of volunteers
Work with hospital committees to create job descriptions for volunteers
Develop volunteer-related procedures and policies
Create a comprehensive training program for other volunteers that encourage lifelong learning and development
2. Facilitate the establishment and expansion programs that effectively engage increased number of volunteers that meet the needs of this profession
Design and Implement a volunteer recruitment strategy using previous past experiences and practices and concentrating on making the future practices more productive
Design and Maintain databases to support the volunteer management of the community programs
Develop and maintain a newsletter or blog to spread awareness about the various community programs
3. Manage the operation of the Hazard Hospital Gift shop in accordance with system guidelines and regulations. Also assist assigned regional ARH gift shops in their daily management
Completes retail ordering for Hazard, and coordinates with regional gift shops to maintain group buying power
Maintains a customer friendly environment in gift shops catering to all community and patient needs
Secure donations for the gift shop
Maintains schedule for gift shops, and assists with day-to-day program coordination in conjunction with other staff members
4. Participates regularly in meetings, trainings and service projects that are coordinated by major social organizations
Represents ARH and participates in local community meetings
Works with community organizations to create programs and funding events for ARH
Maintains relationships with education facilities for partnerships in volunteer program for students of all ages
Solicits support of local clubs and organizations for projects within the ARH system
5. Develops regional process for volunteer program at ARH facilities
Works with Volunteer coordinators at other ARH hospitals, to ensure that programs are consistent across our system
Reviews schedules, budgets and buying process for hospital gift shops.
Maintains annual budget for Hazard hospital program, and reviews and makes suggestions to regional programs as needed
Qualifications
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Minimum Work Experience
Previous experience in marketing, nonprofit fundraising, and dealing with public
Required Licenses / Certifications
State Driver’s licensure required
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Strong Oral and written communication skills
Ability to work well in diverse teams
Self motivation with the ability to take initiative
Comfort with team facilitation, training and management roles
Background in project management, marketing and public relations
A Strong desire to dedicate yourself to the service of others
Ability to handle frequent contacts with department heads, leaders of various community groups, patients and employees
