Essential Job Functions
Sponsored Programs is a full-service support unit assisting faculty and staff with the application, receipt, and management of extramural support for research, service, creative, and other projects. One of 5 units reporting to the Office of Research and Innovation , the Sponsored Programs team actively contributes to the University's efforts to organize and give strategic direction to the research program in support of the University mission. The unit provides signature authority for sponsored program activities and serves as a liaison with institutional sponsors. Team members work closely with faculty, staff, and academic and administrative personnel. Moreover, this team manages the institutional repository for the submission of data and documents. Sponsored Programs strives to create a collaborative environment where engaged Principle Investigators / Project Directors (PI / PDs) can flourish and to promote public visibility of the University's sponsored project activities.
Reporting to the Director of Sponsored Programs, the Grants Manager will function at an autonomous level with provided training, mentorship and documentation for guidance.
Primary duties and responsibilities include :
- Manage all aspects of the life of a project from proposal submission to closeout for an assigned set of departments, ensure transparent communications, timely responses, reporting function and data management with strong attention to detail delivered at every step.
- Support proposal management tasks in the Sponsored Programs office, serving a select set of departments.
- Proposal preparation / submission, programmatic oversight.
- Assist faculty and staff with the interpretation of sponsor terms and conditions, policies, procedures, and program guidelines.
- Negotiate contract / agreement modifications or quotations and assist with the timely issuance of sub-awards or service agreements.
- Assist with the creation and presentation of local training programs.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director.
