What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimating Assistant position at AppleOne Employment Services?
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Coordinate all bidding activities in the Estimating Department, including but not limited to, liaison
between subcontractors, vendors, and estimators.
HOURS OF WORK:
8:00Am – 5:00PM, Monday – Friday. Attendance critical on all bid days.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain an orderly electronic project file tree. Download, save, and print as necessary,
- incoming plans and specs.
- Maintain the subcontractor database system and bidding schedule.
- Ensure accuracy of bids and bid invitations.
- Review incoming bids to ensure there is proper coverage in each bidding scope.
- Monitor bidding activity throughout the bid cycle.
- Filter subcontractor questions and assist the Estimator with creating and disseminating RFI’s.
- Place calls to subcontractors and suppliers to locate additional bidders; interview and collect
- information for future use.
- Keep subcontractors informed throughout the bidding process (i.e., updated plans, RFI
- responses, updated construction schedule, etc.)
- Coordinate all estimating and preconstruction meeting and team schedule.
- Additional functions as required to expand your knowledge and competencies.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Working knowledge of the construction divisions and CSI codes. High school diploma and two years of
prior experience working as an Administrator. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal skills and discretion with sensitive information is essential.
Basic to intermediate construction plan reading is desired.
APPLICATION SOFTWARE:
Strong skill sets in Windows environment, MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PDF editor, and MS Teams.
Proficiency in
SmartBid preferred or a similar estimating database software.
Salary : $25 - $28
