Purchasing Clerk / Buyer – Oil & Gas Industry
Bakersfield, CA
Pay Range : $24.00 - $38.00 per hour (Based on experience and management level)
Schedule : Monday – Friday
We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Clerk / Buyer with strong Excel skills to join our procurement team. This role is essential in managing purchasing activities, supplier negotiations, and inventory control to support refinery operations. Oil and gas industry experience is preferred.
Key Responsibilities :
Utilize advanced Excel functions (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis) for procurement tracking and reporting.
Identify procurement needs and manage cost-effective purchasing of goods, materials, and services.
Research, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure optimal pricing and contract terms.
Process purchase requisitions, issue purchase orders (POs), and maintain accurate procurement records.
Monitor inventory levels, ensuring timely replenishment while minimizing excess stock.
Support refinery turnaround planning by securing critical materials and services.
Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Work cross-functionally with internal teams (finance, operations, legal) to align procurement with business goals.
Qualifications & Requirements :
- Must have 2 years of procurement or supply chain experience (oil and gas industry experience preferred).
- Strong Excel skills are a must (pivot tables, formulas, data validation, and analysis).
- Experience with ERP systems and procurement software.
- Experience in refinery, industrial gases, MRO, or equipment procurement is a plus.
- High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or related field preferred.
