Payroll Specialist/Bookkeeper

Appletree Business Services is a steadily growing modern accounting firm for small to mid sized businesses. Our clients are landscapers, roofers, web designers, doctors - busy small business owners who we appreciate dearly. Appletree provides a monthly subscription for bookkeeping, business taxes, personal taxes and payroll where we serve clients year round. We're looking for a great Payroll Specialist to join our team. We'd require 3 days per week in our office in Londonderry, NH and work from home flexibility the other 2 days. Hours are 8:30-5 Monday through Friday.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Enter hours, pay rates, commissions, etc to run payroll in Gusto for 30-50 small businesses with 1-30 employees
• High attention to detail to ensure accurate payroll runs
• Trouble shooting payroll errors, payroll taxes, new employee set ups
• Respond to customer questions and remind clients of deadlines with friendly customer service
• Your daily tasks will be cleanly organized in Canopy, our practice management system, a critical tool that will set you up for success managing work across multiple clients
• Additional opportunities to assist in bookkeeping or tax prep departments

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1 year experience in payroll or 1 year experience in bookkeeping
• Tech savvy - able to navigate Zoom, Slack, etc and learn new software quickly
• Ability to manage deadlines across multiple clients with an awareness of what needs to be prioritized
• Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills with both clients and team members across digital channels and an innate desire to build relationships
• Humility and openness to coaching and critiques; always seeking to improve
• Persistence and an ability to stay on track
• Bookkeeping skills, general knowledge of payroll and accounting principles

COMPENSATION:
