Position: Mechanical Services Specialist
Job Description:
Identifies and closes sales to keep themselves billable providing in-house and on-site support for Applied Control Equipment valve and instrumentation products such as control valves, pressure and safety relief valves, pneumatic and electric actuation, and measurement and flow instrumentation. Additionally, may also be required to provide site walk-downs and/or act as an onsite lead for plant outages and turnarounds.

Responsibilities:
Identify and cultivate opportunities with new and existing customers and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with all key mechanical services customers.
- Manage and coordinate the pursuit of in-house and field service opportunities.
- Initiate, assist, and document walk downs to determine job scope, asset data, and asset location.
- Communicate to the inside sales team any additional equipment required to perform the requested service engagement.
- Comply with customer safety standards including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (respirators, goggles, hearing protection, etc.) when visiting customer facilities.
- Understand and comply with generally accepted industry standards, such as ANSI, ASME, API, NBIC and others, as they apply to mechanical service.
- Look for opportunities to provide additional value to customers that also deliver incremental business for Applied Control and Emerson.
- Teach training classes to customers surrounding our products and services.
- Deliver quality solutions and services to our diverse group of customers.
- Execute specific tasks from defined goals, often without clear definition.
- Read and interpret manufacture’s drawings and spring charts.
- Install, repair and commission mechanical service products.
- Troubleshoot problems in the field or remotely in a logical and timely fashion.
- Work within assigned technical scope, budget and schedule constraints, with direct responsibility for results.
- May participate with Account Managers and Specialists in customer demonstrations and training.
- Proactively communicate with the Account Managers and the inside team during service jobs.
- Adhere to company and customer standards and safety practices.
- Maintain consistency and provide proper documentation for work performed.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Must have at least 5 years of Valve Repair and Maintenance
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Effectively manage difficult or emotional customers and respond promptly to customer needs
- Strong attention to detail
- Business acumen to understand solution selling techniques.
- Situational awareness and commitment to safety
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- General mechanical skills. Prior service experience preferred.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team while extensively interfacing with customers.
- Must be able to read and interpret various part drawings, customer specifications, and valve assembly and maintenance instructions.
- Previous experience with installation and repair of industrial valves or instruments is required.
- Prior knowledge and experience of National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) and ASME code is preferred.
- Prior Oil & Gas, Power Plant, or Refinery experience is a plus.
- Previous machining experience is preferred.
- Ability to work in an environment with frequent exposure to one or more unpleasant (noise, heat, dust, etc.) or hazardous conditions.
- Ability to work on tasks that occasionally produce a high level of mental/physical fatigue, performed under pressure, requiring intense mental application and attention to detail.
- Ability to always perform work in a safe manner.
Working Conditions:
Combination of both shop and field settings, with occasional office work. This position may require evening, weekend and holiday hours, as well as overnight travel. Lifting up to 50 pounds is required. Use of laptop and other handheld electronic devices.
Compensation:
Base rate range: $28.00-50.00per hour
Work experience, industry knowledge, and unique skills will be taken into consideration when setting the base wage.
Other compensation: Eligible for additional pay premiums and an annual profit-sharing award.
