Position Overview :
The Laser Operator supports our Apex Precision Division by assembling and joining small to microscopic instruments, devices, and components using a laser welding machine. The operator is required to set up the laser to start a production cycle, as well as control and adjust the machine settings as needed throughout the automated process. Using written procedures, the operator will feed raw materials or parts into the machine to perform automatic welding processes. In addition to operating the machine, the candidate must also prepare the laser for daily use by adjusting programs, checking for common safety or maintenance issues, and monitoring daily output and quality. This position requires an understanding production drawings, manufacturing blueprints, and work orders. The applicant must have an awareness for precision, repeatability, and quality. Production orders can vary from same-day prototype jobs to week or month long mass production orders, therefore a strong sense of timeliness and prioritization is a must.
Responsibilities Include :
- Operate automatic laser welding equipment
- Follow ISO 13485 procedures, as well as company safety and process requirements
- Follow project drawings, specifications, work orders, and procedures to yield product that conforms to quality workmanship standards and established production standards
- Position and clamp together components of fabricated product for welding preparation
- Clean and perform after process weld finishing services
- Assist with analytical testing, ranging from visual inspection to utilizing tensile testing and microscopic inspection equipment
- Safely operate common manufacturing tools and equipment
- Effectively interface with team members for component and equipment resources
