Applied Industrial Technologies is seeking a Subsidiary Controller to join its Fluid Power Division's management team. This position is responsible for leading the accounting functions for several subsidiary companies, which include manufacturing operations. You will supervise, monitor and evaluate all day-to-day accounting activities.
We are seeking an independent leader experienced in distribution, job shop (labor and overhead) cost accounting, detailed profitability analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to be a business partner with management. This role is responsible for ensuring adherence to Applied's company-wide accounting policies and procedures, including internal control and related Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. It also includes functional responsibilities over general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and credit management. Specific duties include, but are not limited, to the following :
Monthly Close and Financial Analysis
- Manage the full cycle accounting including journal entries, month-end close and financial reporting requirements
- Assure department financial reporting deadlines are met
- Administer financial policies procedures and internal controls ensuring conformance with US GAAP and Company policies
- Review and / or prepare account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts in a timely fashion and document in Blackline compliance tool
- Prepare robust financial variance analyses and recommend improvement actions
- Formulate labor and overhead rate analyses, including variance analyses and corrective action follow up
- Develop annual budgets and monitor performance, including insights on underlying variance reasons and potential remediation and performance improvement plans
- Maintain and analyze other company metrics, including labor and job cost analysis, inventory turnover and reserves
- Prepare financial forecasts periodically, working closely with business leaders
- Provide support as needed to Corporate accounting including Sarbanes Oxley compliance, quarterly financial reviews, annual tax and audit requirements and other ad hoc requests
- Serve as point person for management of internal and external annual financial audits, including preparation or review of audit work papers and other required support
