Responsibilities include:
- Performs simulation and modeling in applied physics but may support other computational or experimental work as necessary.
- Contributes to the development of computational methods and models for simulating real-world problems. Develops high-quality software code and thorough documentation. Assesses modeled results against theory and data as available. Conducts software optimization, including parallelization, designs and develops new algorithms, and devises alternative ways of accomplishing research objectives. When possible, adapts existing software and equipment, or, if necessary, contacts vendors to procure the equipment, software, and supplies.
- Performs verification and validation tasks including unit testing, setting up simulation cases, managing runs and output data, processing and analyzing results, writing up analyses, and preparing presentations about the results and work performed. Interacts with other faculty, staff, and students to provide feedback based on analysis results and to assist with the modeling, algorithms and software techniques.
- As necessary, sets up and maintains computational development components and subsystems. These may include high-performance workstations, graphical processing units (GPUs), internal networking, cloud-based systems such as the Defense Intelligence Information Enterprise (DI2E) and Amazon Web Services (AWS), collaboration framework such as Confluence and Jira, and high performance computing (HPC) connectivity.
- Other duties as assigned
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Active Top Secret clearance required or eligible
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, Space Physics, Computer Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
- Ability to Integrate with other organizations/teams
- Ability to develop a highly effective working relationship with the customer
- Active TS/SCI preferred
