Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable (A/P) Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of the accounts payable process for a growing homebuilding company based in Smyrna, GA. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of payments to vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers while maintaining strong internal controls and supporting the financial health of the business.
The ideal candidate has a background in residential construction or real estate development, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and brings leadership and operational excellence to the accounting function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the full-cycle accounts payable process, including invoice processing, payment approvals, check runs, and electronic payments.
- Manage and mentor the accounts payable team, ensuring adherence to deadlines and company policies.
- Ensure proper coding of invoices to appropriate job cost, GL accounts, and cost centers, in line with project accounting standards.
- Maintain accurate records of subcontractor contracts, purchase orders, lien waivers, and certificates of insurance.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor payments, managing payment terms and early payment discounts.
- Collaborate with the Construction and Purchasing teams to resolve discrepancies and support ongoing project needs.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and respond promptly to inquiries regarding payments or account status.
- Review and reconcile the A/P aging report, ensuring open items are addressed and resolved.
- Assist with month-end close, including preparation of A/P accruals and reconciliations.
- Monitor compliance with internal controls and company policies, suggesting improvements where necessary.
- Support year-end audit and financial reporting requirements as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 5 years of experience in Accounts Payable, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Experience in residential construction, homebuilding, or real estate development required.
- Strong working knowledge of construction-specific accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, Buildertrend, or similar platforms).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting/reporting systems.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with vendors and internal teams.

Salary : $75,000 - $95,000
