We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team and play a key role in maintaining the financial integrity of our organization. The ideal candidate will have experience in residential construction accounting and BRIX ERP (preferred) software to optimize our accounting processes.
Position Summary
As a Senior Accountant, you will oversee the financial health of our company by managing the general ledger, financial reporting, reconciliations, payroll processing, and audits. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies. Additionally, this role requires the ability to train and mentor junior accountants, supporting the team’s development.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in construction accounting, experience with BRIX ERP, and a proactive approach to improving financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Ensure the integrity of financial records by recording, verifying, and consolidating transactions.
- Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account data.
- Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions.
- Ensure accurate general ledger management, including trial balance preparation and reconciliation.
- Summarize financial status by preparing balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and management reports.
- Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to leadership for strategic decision-making.
Payroll & Compliance
- Oversee and manage payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax regulations.
- Maintain compliance with state and federal tax regulations, preparing and submitting necessary filings.
- Support external audits by analyzing general ledger accounts and providing required documentation.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and internal controls.
- Reduce financial risks by ensuring legal compliance in accounting practices.
- Utilize BRIX ERP software to manage accounting functions, financial reporting, and job costing.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in residential construction or home building.
- Preferred experience with BRIX ERP or similar construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, QuickBooks for Construction).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and job cost accounting.
- Experience with payroll processing, reconciliations, and general ledger management.
- Ability to train and manage junior accountants and support team development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
- CPA or CMA certification (preferred but not required).
