We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Information System Security Specialist I to join our cybersecurity team in Panama City, FL. This entry-level position supports the development, implementation, and enforcement of cybersecurity policies and procedures to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems for Naval Surface Warfare Center’s Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) Command, Control, Computing, Communications, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Targeting (C5ISRT).
- Assist in maintaining cybersecurity compliance under the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
- Support the creation and updating of System Security Plans (SSPs), Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), and other required documentation.
- Help perform vulnerability assessments and assist with security scan remediation efforts.
- Work closely with system administrators to implement and validate security controls and system hardening (e.g., DISA STIGs).
- Monitor information systems for security alerts and support incident response activities under senior guidance.
- Maintain access control records, audit logs, and user account tracking.
- Assist with internal security reviews, self-inspections, and audit preparation.
- Stay current with cybersecurity trends, tools, and DoD information security policy updates.
- Provide security awareness support and assist in user training efforts.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment while supporting mission-critical objectives.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Secret Security Clearance.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
- 0–2 years of cybersecurity, information assurance, or IT support experience (internships/co-ops are a plus).
- Basic understanding of RMF, NIST SP 800-53 controls, and DISA STIGs.
- Familiarity with security tools such as ACAS/Nessus, HBSS, or Splunk is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
- Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level I or IAM Level I certification requirements within 6 months (e.g., CompTIA Security , CAP, GSLC).
