Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Systems Administrator II to manage and maintain IT systems, networks, and infrastructure in support of our operations in Panama City, FL. In this mid-level role, you’ll be responsible for deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting systems and servers while ensuring operational efficiency and cybersecurity compliance for Naval Surface Warfare Center’s Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) Command, Control, Computing, Communications, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Targeting (C5ISRT). You will work closely with the technical teams, offering both Tier II support and backend system expertise.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows and/or Linux servers, virtualization platforms, and network systems.
- Monitor system performance, diagnose issues, and perform root cause analysis and resolution.
- Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, file permissions, and system access controls.
- Manage user accounts, software deployments, and patch updates in accordance with security standards.
- Provide Tier II support for end-user requests and technical issues.
- Perform regular system backups, disaster recovery planning, and data restoration activities.
- Ensure systems are secure, compliant, and maintained in accordance with organizational and DoD standards.
- Assist with documentation of IT processes, system diagrams, and technical procedures.
- Collaborate with senior IT personnel on projects, upgrades, and migrations.
- Stay informed about new technologies and recommend improvements.
Systems Administrator Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Secret Security Clearance.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in system administration or IT infrastructure support.
- Proficiency in administering Windows Server and/or Linux-based systems.
- Experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and network troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and security tools.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security , Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to work independently and support after-hours or on-call operations if needed.
