What are the responsibilities and job description for the SY25-26 Education Support Specialist position at APPLING MIDDLE SCHOOL?
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with students to develop an achievement plan to include the best program to increase content mastery and graduation rate;
- Collaborate with feeder middle and high school(s) to utilize the components of characteristics of potential dropouts to identify students with the high probability of not graduating;
- Conduct an analysis that focuses on data for individual students and subgroups such as:
- State Standardized Tests
- District initiatives
- Local Records: attendance records, behavior records, records of teacher conferences, records of parent conferences, records of student conferences, meeting minutes, and grade retention records.
- Develop instructional plans for at-risk students;
- Serve as a liaison for other support services that can assist the student;
- Work with counselors and teachers to provide instructional interventions using Leader In Me, PBIS, and other strategies that will support student achievement;
- Work to support teachers with ongoing professional development to include but not limited to Get Better Faster;
- Communicate effectively within the educational community for the support of students, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders;
- Attends programs, meetings and educational conferences as necessary or required;
- Participates in vertical team meetings among feeder middle and high school faculty and staff to develop action steps to improve students and subgroup transition success rate;
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
Education, Training and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education/Master's Degree preferred.
- Candidates must be certified in, or eligible for certification in education.
- School-based experience is required.
- Any alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Salary/Terms/Benefits:
- 195-day work year; Salary based on certification and experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
