Job Duties
- Lead and execute hot fire tests and environmental testing campaigns for thrusters and propulsion systems.
- Oversee test stand integration, ensuring proper hardware setup and post-test inspections.
- Develop, modify, and refine test plans, sequences, and procedures to optimize performance.
- Design and implement mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems to support rigorous testing needs.
- Identify and troubleshoot system issues using first principles and hands-on problem-solving.
- Analyze test data and provide performance evaluations, ensuring accurate assessments of propulsion hardware.
- Author test documentation, including plans, work instructions, and post-test reports.
- Manage the installation of instrumentation and sensors on test assets for data acquisition.
- Maintain and update plumbing and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for test infrastructure.
- Contribute to long-term technical strategy and company growth in propulsion system development.
- Provide mentorship to junior team members and collaborate across teams to achieve project success.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or electrical engineering.
- 2 years of experience in propulsion system testing, high-pressure gas systems, and aerospace testing methods.
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and operating test stands.
- Strong knowledge of propulsion components such as valves, regulators, sensors, and actuators.
- Proficiency in data acquisition systems such as LabVIEW or NI hardware.
- Experience developing CAD models and engineering drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for fluid, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Ability to develop and interpret plumbing and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- 5 years of hands-on propulsion testing experience with liquid or storable propellants.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks, MATLAB, Python, or ANSYS for data analysis and modeling.
- Experience reviewing and analyzing test data to optimize system performance.
- Must be able to obtain US Secret clearance.
