Job Duties
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including system requirements, validation plans, interface control documents, block diagrams, and bills of materials (BOM).
- Translate mission and customer objectives into detailed system specifications, ensuring compliance with space environment constraints such as radiation, thermal loads, vibration, and weight restrictions.
- Define and manage electrical, data, and mechanical interface requirements for avionics systems used in space applications.
- Work cross-functionally with electrical, mechanical, and software engineering teams to establish and verify system integration, ensuring compatibility across subsystems.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to align project execution with overarching company goals and mission objectives.
- Identify and mitigate design risks, implement redundancy strategies, and ensure fail-safe operation to enhance system reliability.
- Support certification processes and ensure compliance with industry and mission specifications.
- Track development challenges and work proactively to resolve engineering concerns in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- 4 years of experience in an aerospace engineering discipline.
- 2 years of hands-on experience in systems engineering, with a solid understanding of system design and integration principles.
- Broad knowledge of spacecraft subsystems and their interactions.
- Experience leading engineering teams and solving complex technical challenges.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve intricate engineering issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas effectively.
- Previous experience at an early-stage space startup.
- End-to-end product development experience, from concept through deployment.
- Expertise in designing for and testing in space environments, including radiation exposure in LEO, GEO, GTO, and cislunar orbits.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical testing, including vibration, mechanical shock, electrostatic discharge (ESD), electromagnetic interference (EMI), thermal cycling, and thermal vacuum (TVAC) testing.
- Familiarity with electrical engineering principles as they relate to schematics and system architecture.
Security Clearance
- Must be able to obtain US Secret clearance.
