The National Sales Manager is responsible for implementing, monitoring and maximizing national sales targets to meet company objectives. This role also partners with cross-functional colleagues and coaches direct reports to identify new opportunities, grow existing accounts, and develop and execute channel sales strategies. This is a player/coach role with responsibility to generate sales revenue individually and through a sales team.
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Recommend the optimal utilization of National Sales team members including recruiting, role changes, coverage models and/or team configurations to maximize sales productivity.
- Build and develop the sales team, setting goals and objectives, and providing coaching and feedback on product knowledge, features, benefits, and selling techniques.
- Project sales volume with specific and quantified risks and opportunities to demand planning.
- Work closely with inside sales and order entry to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Create an annual sales plan aligned to budget constraints and profit targets.
- Guide filter channel strategies across the organization, providing direct input into the product road, channel marketing, engineering applications and strategic planning.
- Drive a culture of accountability and results through execution and effective performance management.
Revenue Generation and Sales Execution Responsibilities:
- Directly manage and develop major customers to expand relationships and increase revenue.
- Develop and implement sales strategies to meet or exceed national RP Filters sales targets and market share objectives.
- Communicate effectively with key account contacts to present and promote RP Filters products, understand customer requirements and product configurations, and liaise with other RP/AprilAire teams including Engineering and Marketing on behalf of customers.
- Set, monitor and achieve quarterly and annual sales targets, review progress monthly and quarterly with the team to adjust tactics and strategies as needed.
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis. Analyze sales data by customer and region, identify opportunities and adjust if necessary.
- Ensure a clear GTM strategy is set within each channel (OEM, Distribution, Ecommerce) that delivers our value proposition.
- Maintain ability to travel up to 50%.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- MBA preferred
Experience
- 5-7 years professional experience in a business-to-business sales role
- Proven success selling commercial hard goods
- A minimum of 2 years managing salespeople with a player/coach mentality
Product, Business and Application Competencies:
- Knowledge of selling to manufacturers
- Skilled at competitive conversion
- Strong business acumen and understanding of the fundamental drivers of the customers’ business. Ability to work consultively with the customer to help them grow their business.
- Strong understanding of sales structure, process, channel and strategies.
- Understanding and experience with direct sales and distribution.
