Our client is seeking a Director of Tax to join their team. This is a full-time / permanent position with a direct client of Aprio Talent Solutions.
Location: 100% remote (Client is in Scottsdale, AZ and would like someone open to traveling there occasionally to meet with the team).

Summary:
A high-growth, private equity-backed organization in the real estate services sector is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Tax to build out and lead its internal tax function. This newly created position offers a unique opportunity to establish scalable processes, policies, and procedures to support continued expansion through both organic and acquired growth.
You’ll work closely with external advisors and internal leadership, with strong backing from finance and operations teams. If you’re a tax leader ready to move beyond maintenance into strategy, structure, and leadership, this is a rare build-from-scratch opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of tax compliance, including income, sales, property, and local taxes
- Own ASC 740 reporting, including quarterly and annual provisions, effective tax rate calculation, and related financial disclosures
- Manage multi-state tax filings and coordinate with external advisors to ensure compliance
- Develop and oversee transfer pricing documentation across a multi-entity structure
- Establish and maintain internal documentation, tax controls, and process efficiencies
- Advise senior leadership on the tax impact of new regulations, M&A activity, and structural decisions
- Support R&D credit planning, return-to-provision reconciliation, and GAAP tax technical accounting
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; CPA required
- 10 years of tax experience, including a blend of public accounting and in-house roles
- Strong knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local tax laws and filing requirements
- Deep expertise in ASC 740 and technical tax accounting
- Experience with both partnership and corporate structures
- Background in multi-state compliance, M&A, and transfer pricing
- Proven ability to build and scale tax processes within a growing organization
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $170,000 – $200,000
- Bonus: 20% target
