Position: This is an exciting opportunity to join an established company that works with local and Federal Government agencies and has positions open throughout the country. APSI is currently seeking two Assistant Project Managers, to act as the owner's agent (CMa) in support of the District of Columbia Dept of General Services on their $100M Fire Emergency Medical Services (FEMS) Fleet Maintenance Facility project. The project scope of work is new construction on an existing site to accommodate a fleet maintenance facility, ready reserve facility, covered parking and logistics warehouse facility, a new parking structure, administrative facility, fuel station and associated site work.
The Assistant Project Manager (or APM) is responsible for assisting the Sr. PM in the leading and managing of the project from initiation to completion. This includes overseeing and managing construction, and ensuring the project is completed per the scope, on time, and within budget. The APM is also involved in all phases of project delivery, including planning, monitoring project milestones, and coordinating resources, while maintaining a strong relationship with clients, design consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies
Daily Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain excellent relationships with client representatives, stakeholders, and the General Contractor team
- Manage project schedules from inception to close out
- Provide contract administration and document control including tracking and reporting on the status of RFIs, Submittals, and changes.
- Actively participate in project construction job-site progress meetings, provide agendas and minutes
- Review and recommend approval of monthly contractor pay applications
- Provide efficient change order management and cost control
- Report on project issues and provide status updates and monthly reports
- On-site Quality Assurance inspections and reports
Required Qualifications (Experience, Education, Certifications, Clearances, etc.):
- Minimum of (5) years of professional construction industry experience serving as a Construction Manager on projects of similar scope and complexity.
- Experience in general construction techniques, contract administration and quality assurance.
- 4-year bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in either engineering, architecture or construction management
- Have strong computer and construction administration skills.
- Experience implementing project management softwares on similar construction projects.
- Have experience preparing cost estimates and Independent Government Estimates.
- Have experience reviewing contractor schedules.
- Have experience reviewing, tracking, logging and reporting on contractor RFI's, submittals, PCOs and change orders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified or pursuing certifications as a Construction Manager (CCM) by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMAA)
