Job Summary
Aptive seeks an experienced Assistant Senior Project Manager to support the Administration forChildren and Families (ACF) Office of Head Start. Under the guidance of the Senior Project Manager, theAssistant Senior Project Manager plays a hands-on role in coordinating the operational andadministrative facets of the Office of Head Start’s national monitoring efforts. The Assistant SeniorProject Manager supports the planning, scheduling, and deployment of large-scale monitoring reviewsacross the nation, manages logistical details (e.g., travel, meeting planning, communications), andcollaborates with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders (including subcontractors, Federalofficials, and reviewers). This role ensures that the day-to-day tasks remain on schedule, meet qualitystandards, and align with contractual obligations.
Primary Responsibilities
The ideal candidate has Head Start program expertise and is familiar with their program monitoringefforts. They have previous experience leading projects and are highly organized and systematic in theirproject work. They exceed client expectations with high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Qualifications
• 3 years of relevant project management experience with the federal government• Bachelor’s degree in a field related to Organizational Management, Human Services,Administration, Psychology, Early Childhood or other relevant field.• Experience supporting large, complex projects for federal agencies; ACF preferred.
Desired Qualifications
• Basic understanding of Head Start/Early Head Start Program Performance Standards, or awillingness to learn quickly.• Proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Trello, or equivalent) and officeproductivity tools (MS Office suite).• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear meeting notes, statusreports, and stakeholder correspondence.• Strong background in budget planning, cost control, and financial reporting for large-scaleprojects.• Able to synthesize programmatic, fiscal, and compliance data to ensure accuracy, consistency,and legal defensibility of monitoring reports.
• Able to work effectively with cross-functional groups including reviewers, government officials,and subcontractors.• Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP) preferred.
