The Academic Success Coordinator provides individualized academic support to college students to enhance their academic success, foster personal growth, and promote overall college retention. The role involves working closely with students to develop effective study habits, time management skills, academic strategies, and goal-setting techniques.
Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks/Essential Functions:
One-on-One Coaching:
○ Provide personalized coaching to students in areas such as time management, study skills, academic planning, and test-taking strategies.
○ Provide academic advising for students, particularly in navigating academic challenges and planning for academic success.
○ Offer tailored advice on overcoming academic challenges and improving performance in specific courses for academic warning, probation or readmit students
○ Develop and implement action plans to help students achieve their academic goals.
○ Plan and facilitate workshops or group coaching sessions on topics like study strategies, stress management, academic writing, and organization.
○
Monitoring Progress:
○ Track student progress and provide regular feedback on their academic development.
○ Collaborate with faculty and other campus resources such as CORE and the Registrar’s Office to ensure comprehensive support for students.
○ Help students set realistic academic goals and adjust strategies as needed.
○ Pair prospective students with current college students to help them understand how to navigate academic challenges.
○ Provide students with tools to develop a growth mindset, emphasizing that challenges are opportunities for growth and that setbacks are part of the learning process.
Academic Resource Referral:
○ Refer students to relevant campus resources, such as tutoring, counseling services, or academic advising, to further support their academic journey.
○ Stay informed about available academic resources and services to provide accurate guidance.
○ Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to ensure seamless transitions for students, from enrollment to graduation.
○ Maintain accurate records of coaching sessions, progress, and outcomes.
○ Provide reports on student progress to relevant academic departments or stakeholders as required.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree required;
● Previous experience in academic coaching, tutoring, advising, or a related student support role.
● Strong understanding of college-level academic expectations and student development.
● Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
● Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
● Knowledge of campus resources, academic software, and educational technologies.
