About the role
We are seeing a summer intern in our Process Chemistry and Manufacturing Team. This is a hands-on position with primary responsibilities around bench-to-pilot experimentation and data generation to enable production of noncanonical amino acids for next generation therapeutics. You will be responsible for understanding the chemistry and applying chemical engineering principles to improve and execute processes for a variety of chemical products. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our mission of producing novel, innovative products unlocked by chemistry and biocatalysis. You will also get to experience working in a collaborative team environment!
What You'll Do
- Assist the team in developing scalable biocatalysis, chemistry, separation, and purification processes at bench to manufacturing scale for ncAA production
- Perform unit operations relevant to chemistry and production
- Characterize and analyze samples to track impurities, yields, and purity
- Perform mass balances and yield calculations
- Collect, analyze, interpret and report on data
- Follow documentation and SOPs
- Have a high regard for safety, people and ethical behavior
Schedule and compensation :
This 10-week internship will begin in late May / early June and end in late July / mid August. Work weeks will be 40 hours (Monday-Friday, approximately 9 : 00-5 : 00). Compensation is $18 / hour. Work is on-site in Berkeley, CA.
