Starting Rate: $21.50/hr

Status: Seasonal Hourly (Non-exempt)
Join our team and work hands-on with state-of-the-art snow cats and equipment to keep A-Basin open from October through June. You’ll operate snowcats, maintain equipment, and follow nightly grooming plans to create the best possible conditions for skiers and riders. With a focus on safety, sustainability, and teamwork, you’ll play a key role in shaping the mountain experience while learning the ins and outs of our trail network and grooming methods.
A-Basin Slope Groomers are eligible for a staging program based on experience, which relates to applicable pay. See staging requirements and related skills below.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Nightly grooming and maintenance of ski trails and slopes as directed by Leads/Manager
- Learn and stay up to date on A-Basin’s grooming methods and trail network
- Adhere to all safety rules and regulations
- Check the grooming list for nightly areas of concern
- Responsible for startup and shut down of equipment daily
- Perform preoperational checks for leaks, wear, and other potential damage to vehicles
- Refuel and deice snowcat at the end of the shift
- Monitor gauges of machines and fill out maintenance log books nightly
- Report adverse conditions or problems as appropriate to the supervisor and/or mechanics
- Assist mechanics or coworkers with minor repairs of equipment
- Effectively communicate with other employees and departments in person and via radio
- Assist with food and beverage bin deliveries and trash hauling
- Follows all department sustainability and safety guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Experience Requirements:
- One year of experience operating heavy equipment such as loaders, snowcats, and winch cats
- Knowledge of Arapahoe Basin trail systems preferred
Skills Required:
- Ability to demonstrate fundamental knowledge of operating heavy equipment
- Ability to maintain a high level of safety consciousness
- Ability to work with others and in a team environment
Physical Requirements: (with or without reasonable accommodation)
- Ability to withstand high-altitude conditions at all times
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, kneel, squat, crawl, push, pull, throw throughout a 10-hour shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to ski safely on intermediate and expert terrain
- Ability to hike steep and uneven terrain
Other Requirements:
- Must be available on weekends and holidays and at night
- Must complete a motor vehicle records background check
Work Environment:
- This position will work outdoors in a high-alpine environment in all types of weather conditions. This role may work outdoors without shelter for up to 10 hours. Additionally, it will consistently operate or work around noisy machinery. Riding a chairlift is required for this role.

Slopes Maintenance – Groomer II – Starting Rate: $22.00/hrFulfill all Groomer I responsibilities and requirements in addition to the following:
- Proficient knowledge of A-Basin’s trail network
- Ability to perform snow-pushing projects as directed
- Beginner’s understanding of A-Basin’s winching methods and trail network
- Groom-specific areas for events, races, etc.
- Use a grooming map to work independently for periods of time
- Work with Groomer Leads to develop nightly grooming assignments
- Work on opening new terrain in the early season with direction from the Manager
- Work on terrain consolidation and drainage in late season
- Proficient winching ability, including in the Beavers and Montezuma Bowl
- Independently identify and execute snow-pushing projects
