The Investment Analyst works under the direction of the Senior Portfolio Manager to assist in managing the day-to-day activities of the Arbella investment portfolio. The Investment Analyst will be involved in all aspects of the portfolio management process from researching fixed income sectors, recommending individual bonds for purchase, trading, compliance, and reporting. Ensure investment accounting system is accurate and provide timely information to other internal groups. In addition, this role will involve reviewing financial statements of key vendors from a risk management perspective.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform fixed income sector analysis. This could include corporate, municipal, asset backed, mortgage backed, and commercial mortgage backed and will be based on experience.
Willingness to learn about other sectors to contribute to the performance of the portfolio.
Analyze and recommend individual bonds for purchase based on fundamental research and relative value.
Monitor the current portfolio holdings for deterioration in credit quality.
Establish and maintain relationships with brokers.
Review investment performance and investment income on a monthly basis.
Ensure compliance with investment guidelines and NAIC guidelines.
Update monthly and quarterly investment reports for senior management and the Board of Directors.
Assist internal and external auditors by providing requested information.
Perform financial analysis of key vendors to identify weakness or areas of concern.
Monitor and rebalance the Arbella Charitable Foundation portfolio as needed.
Ability to work independently and articulate ideas effectively
Possesses strong analytical skills and proficient understanding of financial markets.
Key Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting plus 2-5 years experience in financial services (asset management) experience.
CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or candidate for this designation
Experienced with Bloomberg and Microsoft Office.
Excellent customer service, communication and collaboration skills.
