What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Staff Development position at Arbor Springs West Des Moines?
Under general direction of the Administrator, the Director of Employee Development works collaboratively with the HR Director, DON and Program Coordinator to implement the RADAR program for all new employees. The DED will work primarily on the A) assimilation and D) Development of the process. Teaching and coaching of new staff will also be a primary role, along with CCDI and DAA training.
QUALIFICATIONS

Housekeeping / Laundry Staff (as applicable)
Professional Staff (as applicable)
The primary functions and responsibilities of this position are as follows: Additional duties may be added as necessary to meet the needs of the facility. You will be evaluated on your ability to perform these functions competently with minimal supervision and/or reminders.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education/Certification/License - Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology, Sociology, Psychology, or other Human Services Field.
- Working knowledge of federal and state regulations governing long-term care.
- Dementia-Specific education, training, and / or experience
- Demonstrated competence working with elderly in long-term care setting.
- High level of literacy in spoken and written English.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Complete assignments timely, completely and accurately.
- Authority is delegated to the individual in this position to:
- Conduct education and training for all new staff.
- Perform performance evaluations and audits for all new staff in regards to the dementia modules
- Provide dementia specific education for all staff
- Oversee the Mentor Program
