The Arc of Essex County is a non-profit organization that provides services and programs for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. The Arc provides supports, direct care, supervision, and skill training for individuals living in a group residential program.
Job Description
We are currently looking for an Assistant Director of Adult Residential Services. Selected personnel would administer the activities of the department in support of policies, goals, and objectives established by the Director of Adult Services and the Executive Management Committee by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
General Supervision
- Responsible for training & supervising Program Managers for all Residential Programs
- Responsible for overall supervision of ARC/Essex residential programs to make sure program standards are being met
Program Operations
- Provide consistent and accurate information to Adult Services Director regarding all program issues.
- Coordinate and manage all intakes and referrals regarding residential placements.
- Participate in the Annex A process annually.
- Act as a liaison to DDD regarding his/her assigned residential programs.
- Supervise the Licensing process for his/her programs
- Oversee the IHP process for his/her programs.
- Maintains regular contact with the agency Nurses to ensure the medical health of the service recipients.
- Maintain regular contact with the agency behaviorists, other ARC/Essex support staff to ensure each individual’s behavioral health and the safety of all service recipients and their staff.
- Conduct regular reviews of current budget status for programs.
Personnel
- Interview applicants for key staff positions
- Provide annual performance appraisals
- Participate in all issues pertaining to staff performance.
- Ensure that Program Managers follow the stipulations of the union contract agreements.
- Participate in any Union grievance process as assigned.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree (MA or MS) in Special Education, Psychology, or related field and at least three years of administrative experience in department specific services to adults with developmental disabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, or related field and at least five years of administrative experience in department specific services to adults with developmental disabilities.
- Valid Driver’s License is required
- At least three years Driving History in the US without any suspensions.
- Some travel is required throughout Essex County (to Arc programs, appointments, etc…)
