Summary
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Selects items to be priced. Removes and discards trash from donated merchandise.
- Cleans merchandise as necessary.
- Sorts merchandise for the department pricer.
- Depending on the type of merchandise either tags the items before or after pricing.
- Stocks the sales floor with priced merchandise.
- Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work area.
- Assists the department pricers in achieving sales and production goals.
- When on the sales floor assists customers in their shopping experience.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Store Manager/Assistant Manager.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skill and Ability
- Ability to identify saleable merchandise.
- Ability to prepare merchandise for pricing.
- Ability to work as a team in a production environment and communicate with co-workers.
- Good customer service skills.
- Ability to work quickly without making excessive mistakes.
- Ability to organize ones work station.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week and meet the schedule demands of a production/retail environment.
Education and/or Experience Required
- Some retail or production experience is desired but not required.
Physical Demands
- Works inside in a production and retail environment.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak, hear, stand and move throughout the store.
- Use upper body strength to frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to dust from donations.
