Position Summary : The Mechanical Technician Pump Millwright will install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot industrial machinery, mechanical equipment, and parts used onsite at the chemical manufacturing plant. The main focus is to rebuild and troubleshoot repair issues for single and dual seal pumps onsite. In This Role, You Will :
- Oversee the placement of the machinery and mechanical equipment used onsite at chemical manufacturing plant located in Baytown, TX.
- Assemble, disassemble, install, replace, and maintain the integrity of centrifugal pumps and related parts safely and efficiently.
- Install, calibrate, and run tests to identify issues and repair problematic parts, make temporary repairs to minimize down time as well as install new parts for fixed and rotating equipment at the plant.
- Inspect parts and investigate equipment failures to determine root cause, recommend solutions to improve efficiency of the pumps onsite, repair / replace single and double pump seals,
- Assist with the development and implementation of company preventative and predictive maintenance programs to reduce unplanned stop work issues, remove worn out pieces, and lubricate mechanical parts to maximize the overall integrity and reliability of the plant.
- Develop repair scopes, evaluate new methodologies and best practices for maintenance systems.
- Assist with the execution of planned and unplanned shutdowns : provide technical and hands-on support as required during annual shutdown event each July.
- Comply with all approved environmental, health and safety related best practices, policies, and procedures, including process safety management (PSM).

- Working knowledge of safety standards and permitting processes for rotating / fixed equipment and parts used onsite at a 24 / 7 chemical manufacturing plant.
- Ability to install, inspect, test, adjust, and repair rotating / fixed equipment used in chemical manufacturing industry safely and with confidence.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Teams.
- Ability to read and interpret technical pump drawings, schematics, diagrams, and equipment drawings, and pump manuals.
- Ability to demonstrate safety when using hand tools and hand power tools commonly used in pump maintenance-related tasks.
- Understand the properties, behaviors, and hazards of the equipment with knowledge of machinery overhauls and refurbishment.
- Good organizational skills required along with the ability to work independently and if necessary, lead other technicians as required.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of associate’s degree program in industrial maintenance and / or NCCER industrial millwright certification highly preferred.
- Five years or more of millwright mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial or chemical manufacturing environment with expertise in pumps.
