Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Data Services to lead our Data Services department. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, delivery, and performance of data services, with a focus on leveraging emerging technologies, particularly in AI/ML. The role will involve managing a cross-functional team, building strong relationships with stakeholders, and driving business development efforts to organically grow data projects in the AI/ML space. The Director will also play a critical role in scaling our data capabilities to meet evolving client and business needs. Seeking talented professionals with federal government experience or direct work experience within government agencies. Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership

• Define and execute the strategy for the Data Services department, with a strong focus on innovation and integration of AI/ML solutions.
• Lead and mentor a team of data scientists, analysts, and engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
• Ensure that data services align with broader business goals and client needs, ensuring quality, efficiency, and scalability.

2. Business Development & Organic Growth

• Drive the organic growth of data projects by identifying new opportunities within existing client accounts and markets, focusing on AI/ML-driven solutions.
• Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to develop and present data service offerings to clients, with a particular emphasis on AI/ML applications.
• Lead negotiations and manage client relationships to secure long-term partnerships and recurring business in the data services domain.

3. Project Delivery & Management

• Oversee the successful delivery of complex data projects, ensuring that milestones are met on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
• Foster a client-centric approach by understanding business objectives and delivering tailored data-driven solutions.
• Manage resource allocation, project timelines, and budgets for multiple data projects.

4. Innovation & AI/ML Integration

• Spearhead the integration of AI/ML technologies into data solutions, ensuring that the organization remains at the cutting edge of data services.
• Identify and implement best practices and emerging trends in data science, AI, and machine learning.
• Ensure the team is equipped with the necessary tools and technologies to effectively apply AI/ML to client projects.

5. Cross-functional Collaboration

• Work closely with senior leadership and other departments to align the data services strategy with overall business objectives.
• Collaborate with IT, marketing, and other business units to ensure seamless implementation of data solutions across the organization.

6. Metrics & Reporting

• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of data projects and business development efforts.
• Regularly report on the performance of the department, highlighting successes, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field. Master’s or PhD preferred.
• 10 years of experience in data services, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
• Proven track record in business development, with experience growing AI/ML projects organically.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML technologies, data science, and their applications in business contexts.
• Excellent project management skills, with experience leading large-scale data initiatives.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership and clients.
