Archbishop Spalding High School, in Severn Maryland, is seeking a full-time Campus Minister. Candidates must be a practicing, fully initiated member of the Roman Catholic Church. Campus Ministry includes directing and planning retreats, worship as it relates to the preparation and implementation of liturgies, prayer and reconciliation services, as well as, service opportunities. The available position will have a focus on the worship and service aspect, combined with opportunities for participation and/or leadership in retreats. The position reports to the Director of Campus Ministry and will work closely with a team of Campus Ministers.
Essential Functions:
General
- Fosters a welcoming environment that encourages students, teachers, staff, and parents to contribute to the school's Catholic identity.
- Develop programs that support spiritual growth, prayer, and sacramental experiences. This includes planning liturgies, retreats, and prayer services, and organizing training for student liturgical ministers.
- Ensures that the mission of the school and its Catholic identity of the school are articulated and carried out to all constituents.
Liturgy & Prayer
- Collaborates with student leaders in planning and implementing school liturgies, prayer services, Adoration, and sacramental experience.
- Coordinates school liturgies, prayer services, and sacramental experiences to optimize student engagement and participation.
Emmaus Leadership
- Develops an Emmaus Leadership program for the school.
- Coordinates ongoing leadership and training for student leaders
- Recruits and trains adult lay ministers and students for retreats, service programs, and prayer experiences.
Retreats
- Collaborates with the Administration in planning and implementing faculty/staff retreats.
- Creates a vision for all retreats and ongoing faith formation for students.
- Secures retreat facilities and arranges necessary transportation.
- Recruits and trains both adult and student retreat leaders.
Service
- Oversees and monitors the school-wide service-learning program.
- Communicates service learning opportunities to students and families, including online resources and email communications, informational meetings, and direct invitations to serve.
- Networks with area churches and non-profit organizations to identify service opportunities for students
- Assists in connecting student volunteers for various Our Lady of Mount Carmel events
- Promotes awareness of social justice issues and community outreach.
- Liaises with coaches and organization advisors in promoting the Cougars in Service program.
- Tracks and maintains student service learning hours.
Administrative
- Serves on the Senior Leadership Team, Academic Council, and Student Services Committee.
- Teaches up to three classes per year in either Theology or other discipline.
- Oversees and implements the Worthy of the Call Training for students.
- Assumes fiscal responsibility for the development and oversight of the Campus Ministry budget.
- Attends and supports all school assemblies, faculty/staff meetings, designated in-services, and weekend and evening events as requested.
- Communicate with the greater school community about Campus Ministry activities.
- Liaises with parish and lower school youth ministry to forge a strong relationship for the school
- Participate in ongoing professional development.
- Align the Campus Ministry calendar with the school calendar.
- Serves in other capacities as requested by the Principal.
Position Qualifications:
- Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
- An enthusiastic desire to welcome, encourage, and journey with high school students
- Exceptional organizational and time management ability, with a high level of professionalism
- An ability to work in a changing environment with calm and confidence.
- Previous ministry experience in a school community
- Competent knowledge of Google applications and Microsoft suites
Range: $42,500 - $85,000 Annualized
