Saint Brigid Parish in Lexington is actively seeking a Director of Faith Formation. In close collaboration with the Pastor, this individual will be responsible for implementing a dynamic program of faith formation for the children and youth of our parish in Grades K-10 and will foster a welcoming environment that invites parishioners of all ages to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ and expand their knowledge of the Catholic faith. The ideal candidate will be a committed disciple of Jesus Christ and demonstrate proven experience engaging individuals at all stages of their faith journey, especially children and their parents. The Director of Faith Formation will be passionate about the evangelizing mission of the Church, well-versed in effective catechetical models and religious education curricula, and promote faith formation as a vehicle for discipleship.
This is a full-time, benefits eligible position and will report to the Pastor on site at the parish in Lexington.

This is a full-time, benefits eligible position and will report to the Pastor on site at the parish in Lexington.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, organize, and implement grade K-10 evangelizing and family-focused faith formation programming for children, youth, and families, including support for parents as the primary formators of the faith. After the 2025-26 school year, the program will be for grades K-8.
- Coordinate sacramental preparation for First Penance, First Communion, and Confirmation, including retreats, rehearsals, and ceremonies.
- Motivate children, youth, and adults with flexibility, creativity and enthusiasm for falling in love with Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church.
- Coordinate sacramental preparation for adults and children in need of the sacraments of initiation (OCIA).
- Recruit, train, and support volunteer catechists and ministry leaders.
- Coordinate child safety procedures in accordance with Commonwealth and Archdiocesan requirements, including CORI forms, Protecting God’s Children/VIRTUS training for adults, and safe environment lessons for children and families.
- Oversee and process annual faith formation and sacramental preparation registration.
- Implement the Archdiocese of Boston's vision for faith formation including guidelines for the reception of sacraments and catechetical programs for special groups including persons with disabilities.
- Exercise pastoral sensitivity and maintain appropriate confidentiality.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing.
- Ability to articulate the teachings of the Church with fidelity, clarity, and personal witness to faith and relationship with Jesus Christ in a way that is accessible to children and young people..
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with clergy, staff, volunteers, and parishioners, and maintain professional relationships with other local and archdiocesan faith formation leaders
- Demonstrated leadership, communication and organizational skills and a confident public speaker, including as a leader of prayer and engaging people in learning to pray.
- The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in theology, pastoral ministry, or a related field, with experience in Catholic faith formation strongly preferred.
- Available at times convenient to children and families, including evenings and weekends.
- Comfortable engaging in conversations in large and small group settings and one-on-one, even with people who lack understanding of Church teaching and who may disagree regarding issues of faith and morals.
- Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and other computer programs for communication.
- Compliant with all necessary and required background checks, VIRTUS, and Archdiocesan policies.
PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to use a computer keyboard for up to 8 hours/day.
- Ability to sit for up to 8 hours/day.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
OTHER POTENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organize and implement summer discipleship efforts such as Vacation Bible School and service activities for youth.
- Collaborate with parents and other members of the parish in creating a vision for youth ministry.
- Assist parish clergy in developing and administering sacramental preparation for Baptism. Facilitate a variety of opportunities for parishioners to grow in their personal relationship with God, including opportunities for prayer, worship, service, and study.
