The Multimedia Content Specialist (MMS) is responsible for generating story ideas, shooting, writing and editing content about the people, events and ministries in the Archdiocese of Chicago. The MMS is involved in the production, both live streamed and recorded, of TV, radio and online content distributed on the various platforms of the AOC. A strong command of the Spanish language to help coordinate outreach and communications is highly preferred.
As paid full-time members of The Archdiocese of Chicago multimedia content team, Fellows will work on assignments individually and alongside experienced staff, producing 24 hours of original monthly broadcast, podcast, radio and social media content. They will have the opportunity to generate stories, research content and execute compelling pieces.
Fellows will also receive a budget to produce and distribute their own capstone project, a short form documentary of faith. Past subjects have included the impact of prison ministry, the accompaniment of migrants, and a profile of a Catholic priest who flies to remote Alaskan villages to share the faith.
At the end of the 18 month Fellowship, participants will have a current and polished body of work that represents their abilities to perform on professional production teams or in news rooms. Fellows receive a salary and comprehensive benefits package and will have access to their own gear.

This position is a benefits eligible role with a salary $60,000.00 annually.

Responsibilities
- Shoot, write and edit video content for the AOC’s TV, radio and online platforms.
- Conduct interviews in both Spanish and English, spearheading outreach to the Hispanic community within the AOC.
- As a producer, book guests and identify topical themes for content in AOC television, radio and online programming.
- Assist in the production of podcasts, broadcasts, video streams, and radio programs.
- Research and produce a short form capstone documentary on a topic related to archdiocese mission and ministries.
- Shoot, write, edit at least 2 short form pieces each week.
- The ability to craft compelling narratives that engage audiences
- An eye for how to compose shots
- Knowledge of how to use cameras, sound recording equipment, and editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro.
- The ability to manage a film crew and collaborate with others
- The ability to solve problems and adapt to changing circumstances
- An understanding of film production budgeting
- Skilled at researching topics, setting up interviews, writing scripts
- Must have excellent video-production skills, with mastery of editing systems and related software including Premiere Pro and Adobe Suite.
- Must be an excellent storyteller, well versed in generating content. Bilingual in Spanish is a strong asset.
- Must have strong knowledge of the Catholic faith with an emphasis on the local Church.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills since this person will be working closely with both AOC staff and many others involved in Church activities.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to assignments throughout the archdiocese.
