Position Summary
Design, coordinate and implement the ongoing pastoral and civic formation and grassroots leadership training of immigrant lay leaders of Pastoral Migratoria ®- an immigrant-led social ministry in Hispanic parishes of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Support the continued development and implementation of the ministry at archdiocesan and parish levels to promote the formation of immigrant leaders as ministers of service, justice, and accompaniment. Build upon and sustain partnerships and cultivate community engagement with local parishes, community organizations, civic and educational institutions, etc.
Responsibilities
- Implement pastoral and civic formation program that forms immigrants as lay leaders in their parish communities that respond to the needs of their immigrant brothers and sisters in areas related to service, justice, and accompaniment.
- Develop and implement ongoing grassroots leadership training activities for immigrant lay leaders of Pastoral Migratoria ministry. Incorporate leading practices to maintain PM’s integrity as a Catholic faith-based ministry with a praxis of pastoral accompaniment.
- Develop and sustain relationships that engage a network of partners and key stakeholders in this ministry.
- Support the design and implementation of pastoral service and advocacy initiatives in collaboration with internal and external partners to promote education and advocacy resources for immigrant leaders to respond to parish community needs.
- Work closely with PM’s Leadership Support Coordinator and Pastoral Companions to organize PM activities and engage the parish community.
- Collaborate and support the formation and ongoing leadership of National Pastoral Migratoria initiative and Archdiocesan Polish Immigrant-to-Immigrant Ministry.
- Support fundraising and other efforts as requested
Qualifications
- Fully bilingual (Spanish/English) with excellent oral/written communication skills - required
- Must demonstrate understanding, familiarity of, and support for, Catholic social teaching and the Church's values and evangelization mission
- 3-5 years’ experience in pastoral formation training and coordinating partnerships, preferably in a pastoral or social ministry context
- Knowledge of immigration issues and legislation; committed to social justice.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build and facilitate strong relationships with pastors, external partners and immigrants
This position has an annualized salary range of $47,720-69,194. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on many factors including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
