Assistant Principal
Position Summary:
Most Precious Blood Catholic School is seeking an assistant principal for the 2025-26 school year. We are a Catholic school in Denver, Colorado serving students in grades K- 8th grade committed to educating the whole child for the future. The assistant principal will focus on academic excellence in the classrooms, vertical alignment of curriculum standards, academic coaching and curriculum development. The Assistant Principal is hired by and directly accountable to the principal. The AP is expected to abide by the policies and procedures of the local school, the Archdiocese of Denver, and the Office of Catholic Schools.

Essential Job Duties:
The Assistant Principal will support the overall day-to-day operations of the school:
Support School
- Plan professional development for faculty and staff with the Principal
- Arrange and assist at faculty meetings
- Participate on committees
- Assist in preparing academic school year calendar
- Coordinate the ordering of supplies and textbooks
- Assist in the supervision and safety of students
- Attend grade-level meetings
- Participate in the interviewing process
- Write grant requests and oversee federal Title Program Funding
- Oversee Safety and Emergency Response Plans
- Supervise traffic duties as needed
- Create supervision schedule
- Create academic schedule
- Attend School Advisory Board Meetings
- Verify/Code all invoices
- Oversee and approve employees' timecards
- Coordinate fundraising activities
- Attend parent / teacher conferences
- Mediate between teacher and parents when necessary
- Attend Home and School Association meetings
- Assume the Principal’s duties in his or her absence
- Attend professional growth and development workshops necessary to fulfill assigned duties
- Keep license current
- Support Schoolwide and Archdiocesan goals
- Assess implemented programs and continue as discerned.
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and general school and classroom matters
- Perform teaching duties and all other duties as assigned by the school principal
Support Students
- Instructional
- Oversee curriculum
- Review STAR and DIBELS reports to prepare for support recommendations
- Oversee resource team and requests for DPS intervention
- Assessment
- Oversee STAR process, set up testing, and coordinate testing schedule within designated windows
- Prep ARK assessment
- Support student discipline
- Complete High School recommendations
Support Teachers
- Orient new teachers
- Review lesson plans of assigned teachers
- Complete 1-2 formal observations/year
- Assist with academic coaching and classroom management
- Maintain substitute teacher list
The Assistant Principal will report directly to the principal.
Qualifications
Competencies and Qualifications:
- Be a fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church and intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043).
- Refrain from promotion or approval of, or the living out of, any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic doctrine or morals.
- Effective student supervisory skills.
- Must have the necessary background and training in elementary education methods and subject areas.
- Must have understanding of child development and the skills necessary to relate to students.
- Must have appropriate control and discipline techniques to successfully manage a classroom.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present to groups and individuals and effective listening skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other staff members, to accept supervision, and to help promote a positive environment rooted in Gospel values.
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of and willingness to implement safety and emergency procedures.
- Positive references and recommendations.
- Pass a criminal background check.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Degree in Administrative Leadership, Educational Leadership or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience, especially in a Catholic school.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires lifting up to 40 pounds and carrying up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to execute appropriate safety and emergency procedures, including leading evacuations and providing basic first aid.
